How to add a WhatsApp button to your website
The short answer
Use WhatsApp's click-to-chat link: https://wa.me/ followed by your number in full international format, without the plus sign, spaces or dashes. Add ?text= with a message to pre-fill the chat. Put the button where people decide: the top of the page, beside prices, and at the bottom.
The link format
For an Indian number like +91 98765 43210, the link is https://wa.me/919876543210: country code first, no plus sign, no spaces, no dashes. Anyone who taps it gets a chat with you, without saving your number first.
Pre-fill the first message
Add a message after ?text=, with spaces written as %20, for example https://wa.me/919876543210?text=Hi%2C%20I%27d%20like%20a%20quote. A pre-filled message gets the conversation started and tells you which page the visitor came from.
Where to put the button
- At the top of the page, for visitors who already know they want to ask.
- Next to prices and services, where questions come up.
- At the end of the page, for people who've read everything.
- On each product or property, with the item's name in the pre-filled message.
Make it work for you
Use a WhatsApp Business account for a business profile and quick replies, and decide who answers so messages don't sit unread. A fast reply matters more than the button itself.
